RETAINERS help!!!!????!!!!??!!!?

ok so i got my retainers off last yr but i lost the bottom one after the first week and the top was fine so i waiting 3 months to go see my dentist and she gave me a special retainer to shift them back but then that one broke and i haven't told my parents yet and ive stop wearing my top one so it doesn't fit and it has a tooth on it so it wont go in and ive got a little gap again but not as big as when i first got my braces just a really tiny one will but if i get braces again will they leave the top in as long as the bottom even if they get straight quicker and if i do get the top in will it take long for them to get off or no ???? please help me
