R&P: What do you think of overdubbing?

Overdubbing is fine, but too much of any good thing is bad. Too many overdubs has a tendency to de-liven the music, make it more static and less fresh-sounding. Billy Corgan could play a good guitar, but sometimes you'd never know it, because it was buried under layers and layers of extra texture that he didn't always need.
