My retainer is hurting?

I got my fixed braces off on Wednesday and a fixed retainer on the back of my teeth on that day too. Today I got the clear plastic retainer which you wear at night, and it is making my bottom teeth ache! Is this normal? It's the same kind of ache you get just after having your braces tightened.
