Is buying old planes dangerous?

It doesnt need to be dangerous, you can get someone experienced to buy it on your behalf (you may need to pay them). The body needs to be in acceptable condition and so does the engine and all of the working parts (just like a car). Planes need to be airworthy just like a car needs to be roadworthy. The plane I fly is from the 70s and while is not attractive is is certainly safe and airworthy.
