How many hours of proving tests will the 747-800 have to fly before it is certified for commercial service?

FAA wants 100 hours for a new type aircraft, but technically the -800 is a new VARIANT. Does anyone know if the FAA has actually type certificated it yet, and if every air carrier who wants to use it will have to do additional proving tests?
