Do conservatives believe drugs should be kept illegal?

Prohibition led to the Mafia or at least increased its activity. Bootlegging was the new way to make money. Marijuana is much the same. Being illegal has just led to gangs, thousands of deaths, and over crowded prisons. Its a weed that grows wild in ditches and wooded areas. I see nothing wrong with treating it like alcohol. Hard drugs should still be illegal. No I don't smoke it and never have but over 20,000 people have died in the Mexican drug war and most of the murders in the US are related to drugs. Time to end it. There are good arguments for keeping it illegal as well but the same would be true with alcohol. I don't drink either. Tastes awful. MJ stinks.
